education, and workforce development services through West
Town Academy and the WIA/ Youth Mentoring Unit designed

Training and Placement Programs

The
Greater West Town Training Project provides two sector-based
training programs in Woodworking
and Solid Surface Manufacturing and Shipping
and Receiving designed to help match the needs
of area manufacturers and local workers. Our classroom
curriculums and hands-on trainings have been developed in
partnership with local industry and continuously updated
by community business leaders to ensure that the skills that
participants develop in class are marketable and meet current

and Advocacy
Since
its inception, GWTP has pursued ongoing research, public
education, and advocacy activities which pose solutions to
the problems that create barriers to educational and economic
opportunities for area residents. GWTP is a founding member
of the "Community Coalition on the Dropout Crisis" (CCDC),
an umbrella group of Chicago community organizations dedicated
to addressing the severe dropout crisis in the Chicago Public
