Town Academy
The
cornerstone of GWTP's youth programming is the West Town Academy
(WTA). WTA is an alternative high school for students between the
ages of 17 and 21 who are not enrolled in a traditional high school
or GED program, and wish to return to school and obtain their high
school diploma.

Academy's 10th Annual Commencement

On Thursday, June 26th, 2008 at 7:00pm the West Town Academy (WTA) convened its
annual commencement ceremony at Malcolm X College Auditorium, celebrating the
graduation and accomplishments of its 10th student cohort. WTA's Class of 2008
is comprised of 64 former Chicago Public School (CPS) dropouts from over 25 Wards
throughout Chicago. These students received secondary education, youth
leadership development, career preparation, and individualized mentoring services
from West Town Academy and were granted their high school diploma on June 26th. Read

The Greater
West Town Project provides a broad array of youth focused
education and workforce development services designed to
provide the skills, motivation and values that enable our
participant to take responsibility for themselves, their
families, and their communities. Our teachers, trainers,
mentors, and staff are highly trained and state certified
to provide flexible personalized attention. Our goal is
that our program graduates become lifelong learners and
contributors to their communities and their larger society.
