Frances (center) acted as a mentor on her recent trip
to the national conference of the NCACS.
Frances James is a nineteen-year-old mother of a three-year-old
who entered West Town Academy after her former school, Urban Youth
High School, was closed by the Chicago Public School System. Since
enrolling in WTA, Frances has managed to achieve either the honor roll
or high honors in every grading period.
Frances has enrolled and been accepted to Northern University in Dekalb,
Illinois where she hopes to prepare herself to become a dentist.
She has also been elected as one of the three student members of the board
of directors to the National Coalition of Alternative Community Schools
(NCACS) from the central region.
